On or Off Campus Sublet or Sublease
Should I Sublease or Live on Campus?
Both have their advantages
Living off campus definately has it's advantages. When you sublet a place you are essentially signing a lease for freedom, even if only for a few months. Sure you might have to return home in a few months or move back on campus, but oh how sweet those few months are when you are living off campus. Nobody to answer to, except the landlord, no curfews, no noise restrictions, and no annoying students living one room over for you, unless you choose the wrong roommate. Find out how to pick your perfect roommate. If you have never lived off campus, give it a try. You will certainly be looking for another lease when your current one expires.
Just like off campus life, living in a dorm definately has its' advantages. You will never be bored, you will meet a ton of people, live cheaper and become more resourceful. And of course you will always have someone to play PS2 against. Living on campus is certainly recommended for incoming freshmen so they can learn the ropes and make a lot of new friends. Also, several landlords do not wish to allow freshmen to sign a lease or sublease.
Both have their disadvantages
Off campus living is obviously going to be more expensive, more secluded, and farther from classes. Living on campus is often hectic. You can get lost in the crowd. It is hard to find time and silence to study, and you have to follow dorm rules.
You should take all of this into consideration when you are trying to decide where to live. To get out of your current lease so you can try living on campus list your place now.
